Incheon Airport to central Seoul for a concert trip: AREX, airport buses and taxis compared

AREX all-stop and express trains, where to board Seoul-bound airport buses, taxi fares and night surcharges, and luggage delivery, as listed on the official Incheon Airport and AREX pages.

Direct answer

The official Incheon Airport pages and the AREX site list four ways into Seoul: AREX all-stop trains, AREX Express trains, airport buses and taxis. The all-stop train takes 67 minutes to Seoul Station with 13 stops, and the adult fare is KRW 4,750 from Terminal 1 and KRW 5,350 from Terminal 2. The Express is a reserved-seat train that stops only at Seoul Station, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, takes about 43 to 51 minutes, and shows an adult fare of KRW 13,000. Choose by the transfer station on the line nearest your venue (Gimpo Airport, Digital Media City, Hongik Univ., Gongdeok or Seoul Station). This page covers the airport to central Seoul only; check the venue guide for the last leg.

How to choose your way from the airport into Seoul

1. Start with your terminal and your transfer station

The official Incheon Airport Airport Railroad page says both passenger terminals have their AREX station in the Transportation Center on level B1. Terminal 1 has ticket vending machines and Terminal 2 has a ticket counter. The route map lists Gimpo Airport (Lines 5 and 9, Gimpo Gold Line, Seohae Line), Magok Naru (Line 9), Digital Media City (Gyeongui-Jungang, Line 6), Hongik Univ. (Gyeongui-Jungang, Line 2), Gongdeok (Gyeongui-Jungang, Lines 5 and 6) and Seoul Station (KTX, Gyeongui-Jungang, Lines 1 and 4). The page says its information is for reference only. The airport line is 1577-2600 (07:00 to 22:00) and the AREX line is 1599-7788.

2. All-stop train: 67 minutes to Seoul Station and the adult fares

The AREX home page shows the all-stop train between Incheon Airport and Seoul Station as 67 minutes with 13 stations, with a first train at 05:20 and a last train at 00:00. It does not say which station or direction those times refer to, so check the all-stop timetable before you travel. The fare page lists adult fares from Terminal 1 of KRW 4,750 to Seoul Station, 4,650 to Gongdeok and Hongik Univ., 4,550 to Digital Media City and 4,350 to Gimpo Airport. From Terminal 2 they are KRW 5,350, 5,250, 5,250, 5,150 and 4,950 respectively. A single-use transit card adds KRW 100 for adults, the page says. The page gives no table of youth and child fares, so none are stated here.

3. Express train: non-stop to Seoul Station, reserved seats

The AREX Express page says this train stops only at Seoul Station, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, has assigned seats, and requires a ticket before boarding. It takes about 43 minutes between Seoul Station and Terminal 1 and about 51 minutes to Terminal 2. The adult fare is shown as KRW 13,000, while the same page also lists regular fares of KRW 18,500 (Terminal 1) and KRW 19,100 (Terminal 2), so confirm at purchase which applies. The child fare for ages 6 to under 13 is KRW 9,500. Tickets are sold at the Express customer center on level B2 of Seoul Station and in the B1 Transportation Center of each airport terminal. The page gives no first and last train or interval, and I could not assign the timetable's times to stations, so none are stated.

4. Added Express trips and the crowding notice

An AREX notice posted on 2026-10-21 says Express service rises from 52 to 56 trips a day from 23 October 2026. Two extra trips run in each direction between 11:00 and 18:00, and the average interval in that window falls from 39 to 35 minutes. The notice reports average seat occupancy of 85.3% in that window and an average of 98.7% on the 15:00 Incheon Airport to Seoul Station Express in September 2026, and says 79.8% of last year's Express riders were foreign nationals. If you land in the afternoon, seats may fill quickly, but the notice does not give live availability, so ask where you buy. It also says some all-stop timetables change.

5. Airport buses: Seoul-bound route list

The route list on the airport's Bus Search page includes 6001 (Dongdaemoon), 6002 (Cheongnyangni Stn), 6005 (Seoul City Hall), 6006 (Jamsilsaenae Stn), 6007 (Yeouido), 6701 (City Hall/Gwanghwamun), 6703 (Gangnam/COEX) and 6705 (Jamsil/East Seoul), among others. You choose Seoul as the region and search; the page does not state whether the list shows only stops inside Seoul. It gives no fares or operating hours. Booking links to the integrated intercity bus reservation site (txbus.t-money.co.kr), and the contact for Seoul-area buses is the Dasan Call Center, 02-120. Our late-night bus guide covers the night routes.

6. Where to board and how much time to allow after landing

The Terminal 1 bus stop page says Seoul buses stop outside exits 3 to 7 and that the in-terminal ticket booths are next to exits 4 and 9. The Terminal 2 page says Seoul buses use stops 11 to 35 in the middle of the B1 Transportation Center, with ticket kiosks on the east and west sides and a staffed counter in the middle of the waiting room. Both pages ask you to allow 1 to 2 hours for immigration when booking a bus, and both say their information is for reference only. The pages do not give stop numbers for individual routes, so check the on-site signs and information desk.

7. Taxis: base fare, night surcharge and pickup points

The airport's taxi page, which shows a last update of 2026.10.29, gives the standard (mid-size) taxi base fare as KRW 4,800. Night surcharges for Seoul and Incheon taxis are 20% from 22:00 to 23:00, 40% from 23:00 to 02:00 and 20% from 02:00 to 04:00; Gyeonggi taxis add 30% from 23:00 to 04:00. Trips to Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo and Bucheon carry no out-of-area surcharge. Pickup numbers 5C, 6C and 6D appear for Seoul-bound standard taxis at Terminal 1, but the table layout is complicated, so follow the on-site signs. The International Taxi (1644-2255) has a flat fare within Seoul, but the page gives no amount and no estimated fares to Seoul areas. The page warns about call vans posing as taxis that solicit riders and overcharge, and tells travelers to use designated taxi stands.

8. You can also send your luggage ahead

The AREX guide page describes Seoul Metro's T-Luggage (same-day luggage delivery between subway stations and the airport) and T-Locker. The T-Luggage airport counters are at Hanjin Express on level 3: opposite check-in counter B at Terminal 1 and opposite check-in counter H at Terminal 2. You register online (tluggage.co.kr) or on site. Staffed storage in the city is at Seoul Station (B1, between Exits 1 and 2), Hongik Univ. (B1, Airport Railroad connecting passage), Myeongdong (inside Exits 1, 9 and 10) and Gimpo Airport (near the Line 5 gate). Locker-to-locker delivery is not yet available, and the service covers only Seoul Metro Lines 1 to 9. T-Locker has 332 locations and 5,511 lockers, paid by app or kiosk. The page gives no fees and no information about use on a concert day.
