Do you need a K-ETA to attend a concert in Korea? The 2026 exemption period

The K-ETA temporary exemption period confirmed from a Ministry of Justice notice (2026-01-01 to 12-31), and how to check your nationality and the arrival card.

Direct answer

The Ministry of Justice extended the temporary K-ETA exemption by one year, from 1 January to 31 December 2026, Korea time. It covers countries and regions that were already exempt, and you should select your nationality on the K-ETA application site to see whether you are covered. If your concert brings you in from January 2027, check again before travelling to see whether the exemption is extended.

What to check before you enter Korea

1. The exemption runs until 31 December 2026

According to the Ministry of Justice notice dated 2025-12-29 (posted by a Ministry of Foreign Affairs overseas mission), the temporary K-ETA exemption was extended by one year and applies from 1 January to 31 December 2026, Korea time. The notice says the aim is to stimulate tourism. First check whether your arrival date falls inside this period. If your concert is in January 2027 or later, check the official site before you travel to see whether the exemption is extended again.

2. Check whether your nationality is covered

The notice only says the exemption covers countries and regions that are currently exempt and does not print the full list. It says applicants see a pop-up when they select their nationality on the K-ETA application site. Do not judge your own case from this article alone: select your nationality on the official site and read what it says. This site does not give immigration advice.

3. The notice says applying lets you skip the arrival card

The notice says that applying for a K-ETA lets travelers skip the arrival card and that an application fee is charged. It does not directly describe the entry procedure for someone from an exempt country who does not apply, so check that with the immigration authorities. It adds that an existing K-ETA stays valid until it expires and that application fees are not refundable.
